Winter 1997. Amarillo, Texas. Cows, oil, football and land as far as the eye can see.
Brian Deneke is known for his green mohawk, dog collar, undying passion for punk music
and his punk shows with his friends at a rundown venue known as “Bomb City.” Their radical
appearances stir social intolerance within the community. Cody Cates isn’t the star of his
high school football team, but his white hat assimilates him well into the pack known as
“white-hatters,” a group of popular, preppy kids. Cody’s clumsy demeanor often makes him
feel the need to prove himself to his friends. After losing a football game, Cody and a few
white-hatters have an altercation with several of the punks. The punks and white-hatters
finally collide in a violent street fight which is known as one of the most controversial hate
crimes in modern American culture.
