Pavel “Pasha” Talankin is a teacher and school videographer in the Russian industrial town of Karabash. After the invasion of Ukraine, he is ordered to record new “patriotic” activities, military drills and rituals that increasingly reshape everyday school life.
A camera meant to prove compliance becomes his covert tool for documenting propaganda from within. Working with David Borenstein, Talankin creates a rare personal record of how militarisation, fear and political control enter the classroom.
