An Emmy Award-winning documentary directed by Academy Award winner James Moll, Inheritance is the story of Monika Hertwig, a woman grappling with a profound legacy left to her by a father she never really knew: Amon Goeth. Often described as a “monster”, Amon Goeth was a prominent Nazi leader and Commandant of the Plaszow Concentration Camp. Utterly ruthless and sadistic, he murdered thousands of Jews and others during WWII. A fact Monika discovered as a teenager, and has yet to reconcile. Compelled to act after seeing Ralph Fiennes’ portrayal of her father in Schindler’s List , Monika begins a quest to come to terms with Amon’s evil legacy. Together with Helen Jonas, a survivor of the Holocaust and Amon’s slave, the two women unearth the personal cost of crimes that consumed millions and question whether a parent’s actions can ever be truly laid to rest.
