Seven lights

 R. Olga Sommerová, Documentary, 57 min.

Director, Alice Sommer, cameraman Erika Bezdickova in Auschwitz Ruth Toskova Zuzana Ruzickova in Terezin

The authentic testimony of six Czech women is one of the last chances to label the feloniousness of the Nazi regime by means of real life stories, and to remind viewers of the fact that Jewish people were not only powerless victims of Hitler’s doctrine but also active resistance fighters who took part in fighting against felony. Here we listen to life stories of four women who experienced a concentration camp fighting for their lives, and two women taking an active part in a revolt against the Nazi regime during the Second World War.  This film is a collective testimony of these women and its dramaturgy unwinds chronologically the following historical topics: the German occupation in 1939, the discrimination of Jewish people, concentration camps in Terezin, Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, the liberation, the communist regime in the fifties, the current neo-Nazi threat.
