The Yankles

 R. David R. Brooks, Feature Film, 115 min.

Yankles Main Photo Yankes win the game Pinky Slides Charlie teaching signals

The Yankles is an uplifting, feel-good, comedy-drama which realistically portrays its diverse cast of characters. That´s the story of an upstart, orthodox yeshiva baseball team that earns a ticket to compete in the college world series, coached by Charlie Jones, an ex-major league center fielder on parole for multiple DUI convictions and desperate to fulfill his community service. While The Yankles strive for success on the field, Charlie works to rebuild his reputation and relationships, and in the process finds redemption. Charlie’s coaching skills and genuine care for his players translates into many victories and the Yankles’ impressive record earns them a birth in their league’s college world series.  However, Walter Parsons, the tournament committee chairman, deliberately reschedules the final game of the competition on the Jewish Sabbath at the urging of SCN, the sports network televising the final game.
