THE THEME

THE THEME OF THE 2010 TALENT WORKSHOP IS EXTRA/ORDINARY

We invite screenwriters and all of you with a bunch of imagination, to send us your screenplay for the short film, the theme being EXTRA/ORDINARY. Max 20 pages of screenplay for more or less 7 minutes short film. Pay attention that the short film must be LOW BUDGET and that you have only three days of shooting. If we decide that the actual realization of the screenplay is possible, your own idea will represent a basis for your further work at the Talent Workshop. Before the official opening of the Talent Workshop you will have the possibility to get in contact, through the online virtual talents community, with other selected participants and together discuss about screenplay and the film that you are going to shoot. Concerning your characters, we will put you in contact with the actors of the Croatian Academy of Drama Arts, and others who are willing to participate in your project and are part of our casting database.

DESIRE

Our desire is to create a common future by working together at this Talent Workshop. We believe in your enthusiasm and creativity!

Attendants of the creative workshops will be divided into two groups of 6 participants who will represent the different professional profiles, such as director, scriptwriter, cinematographer, editor, producer and audio men. Each group will be followed by our group coordinator and by an expert Creative Supervisor. In a group of young, dynamic, and motivated colleagues, the talents will be able to elaborate the screenplay, choose a format, film it, and then edit their video footage. You will have three days of shooting and two days of editing. Each workgroup will be covered by all the necessary equipment for the filming and post-production of the short movie. This year we are going to work with the best film equipment of ARRI products and the editing of the film will be done in one of the oldest Croatian production companies – Jadran Film.

Our desire is to encourage team work, as well as freedom of creativity, and possibly original interpretations of the theme. Such experience will certainly lead to an artistic maturation, and shall provide a spur for further professional challenges to all participants. Learn from the experts, but as well as from your own colleagues, on how to work in teams! Final works of the two Talent Workshop groups will be shown on May 29th 2010 at the Europa cinema in Zagreb as a closing part of the programme of the Fourth Zagreb Jewish Film Festival. The jury composed of the Festival’s guests and movie experts will grade and rank the works and award the best one.
