Weapons of the Spirit, Pierre Sauvage

Sauvage’s much acclaimed, multi-award-winning feature documentary has been revised and updated since its original release in 1989.  One of the most widely used teaching tools about the Holocaust in classrooms in the United States—although not as yet in France—Weapons of the Spirit tells the story of the area of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon in France, the mostly Huguenot community that defied the Nazis and the collaborationist Vichy government: throughout the area, at one time or another, some 5,000 Jews were sheltered from the Holocaust by some 5,000 Christians…
